THE CROWE BROS BAND Same (1981)

Originally from Pearl River, Louisiana, the Crowe Brothers Band, launched in the seventies by the Crowe brothers, John Crowe (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Gary Crowe (vocals, keyboards), still active today, draws its repertoire from Country, Country Rock and Southern Rock, certified in their only album released in 1981 in vinyl format of eight properly produced tracks, with the particularity of having included in it the "Call me the Breeze" by JJ Cale under the name "The Breeze". The long version of the Crowe Bros Band is very fascinating with its groove with its Country Jazz swing via a clear pedal steel that is out of the ordinary. It's a change from Lynyrd Skynyrd's fabulous rendition on their 1974 album "Second Helping" which made it a true standard covered by a host of groups in this indisputable form, also highlighted in the advert for the Citroën C4, which allowed the late JJ Cale to add a little extra to the pot. It is also fitting to mention in homage to Donnie Winters who has just left us the very good version of “Call me the Breeze” with yodeling singing once used to communicate from one mountain to another in Tyrol, an astonishing version that Donnie recorded with his brother Dennis and his father Don Winters on the album "The Yodeling King" in 1984. To return to the Crowe Bros Band album, it has in its lair some very beautiful things, in particular the titles "Partyin' Time", "I Was a Redneck Once", "One Night Stander", "Smoke Filled Bars" with its Charlie Daniels Band, Asleep at the Wheel, Cooder Brown, Hank Williams Jr and Marshall Tucker Band atmosphere, all wrapped up in a superb cover with a corvid perched on a tree, a translation of their surname.
